In the 22nd match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Peshawar Zalmi defeated Multan Sultans by 24 runs.
The match played at National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Multan Sultans were chasing a target of 197 runs set by Peshawar Zalmi. However, they could only manage 172 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.
Shan Masood was the top scorer with 35 runs, while Josh Phillips made 32 and Steve Smith contributed 31 runs. Sahibzada Farhan scored 17 runs before being dismissed by Iftikhar Ahmed. Captain Ashton Turner was dismissed for 20 runs, and Arafat Minhas added 4 runs. For Peshawar Zalmi, Sufyan Muqeem took three wickets, while Iftikhar Ahmed and Naheed Rana claimed two wickets each.
Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi set a target of 197 runs for Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. After winning the toss, Multan Sultans opted to field first. Peshawar Zalmi put up 196 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, delivering a competitive total for the opposition to chase.
Kusal Mendis starred with the bat, scoring a brilliant 68 runs off a well-paced innings that included 6 fours and 3 sixes. His knock anchored Zalmi’s batting effort and provided crucial momentum in the middle order.
Mohammad Haris played a quickfire innings of 38 runs off 17 balls, while Farhan Yousuf scored 30 runs before being dismissed by Mohammad Wasim. Michael Bracewell contributed 14 runs. For Multan Sultans, Peter Siddle and Mohammad Ismail took two wickets each, while Mohammad Wasim and Mohammad Nawaz claimed one wicket apiece. Multan Sultans will now need 197 runs to win the match.
