The West Indies defeated Zimbabwe by 107 runs in a Super Eights stage match of the ICC T20 World Cup.
Earlier, the West Indies set a massive target of 255 runs against Zimbabwe.
The match, played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to field first a challenging decision.
West Indies’ batsmen dominated the innings, hitting 19 sixes and 16 fours to score 254 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. This is the second-highest target in T20 World Cup history, behind Sri Lanka’s record of 260 runs against Kenya in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007.
Shimron Hetmyer was the standout performer for West Indies, scoring 85 runs off just 34 balls, including 7 sixes and 7 fours. He reached his half-century in just 19 balls. Roman Powell contributed 59 runs, reaching his fifty in 29 balls, while Sheriff Rutherford added 31 runs. For Zimbabwe, Mozarabani and Nagawara took two wickets each.
Earlier, Zimbabwe opted to field after winning the toss against the West Indies cricket team in their Super Eight encounter of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Wankhede Stadium on Monday.
In the early overs, West Indies adopted a cautious approach, scoring 98 runs for the loss of one wicket by the end of the ninth over.
Zimbabwe’s bowlers are trying to maintain pressure with the new ball, while the Caribbean batsmen are steadily taking the innings forward.
West Indies’ Shimron Hetmyer recorded the fastest fifty of the match, scoring 53 runs off just 19 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes.
