Blessing Muzarabani, the fast bowler will be returning to the squad after recovering from a back injury. Newman Nyamhuri will be replaced by him. Newman was drafted in the tri-series as Muzarabani’s replacement. However, he was not able to play a match.

Continuity was a key factor in the selection process according to Zimbabwe cricket. The only addition in the squad that participated in the tri-series in Pakistan was Muzarabani. The tri-series also included Sri Lanka.

The pace attack will be led by Muzarabani alongside left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava. Tinotenda Maposa and Bradley Evans will provide flexibility and additional depth in the seam-bowling department.

The squad includes experienced players like Graeme Cremer and Brendan Taylor. Overall the squad remains unchanged. Zimbabwe played the tri-series in Pakistan well. They almost qualified into the finals.

Zimbabwe will start its campaign against Oman at the Sinhalese sports ground in Colombo on February 9 and has been placed in Group B.

After the first match on February 13 Zimbabwe will be facing Australia. They will also travel to Kandy to play against Ireland on February 17. Their final group stage match will be against Sri Lanka on February 19.
