Final of the Pakistan Super League will be played today, at Gaddafi Stadium, and the Lahore police are putting in place extensive security measures to ensure that the event goes off without any problem, according to a private media channel on Sunday.

Over 7,000 police and security personnel have been deployed by the authorities around the stadium.

Security plan will involve the proactive presence of Dolphin Squad units, Police Response Units and Elite Force teams whose work will involve patrolling key routes, monitoring the movement of people and maintaining order in and around the venue.

During the security build-up to the high-profile match, security forces carried out comprehensive search, sweep and combing operations in the sensitive areas, such as the homes of players, their routes to and out of the city, as well as the localities surrounding the stadium.

There were also intelligence-based operations that would neutralise any threats.

Authorities assured that there are strict surveillance measures, and that all team movement, accommodations and stadium grounds are under surveillance via CCTV devices.

Snipers have also been deployed in high-rise buildings in the area in multiple layers of security.

On the part of spectators, strict entry rules have been imposed. They will need to go through three different security checkpoints before being allowed access to the stadium, to indicate rigorous screening and crowd management.

In the meantime, the police have blocked all the roads accessing the stadium with barbed wire and barricades to prevent unauthorised access.

The objectives of these measures are to create a secure perimeter around the venue and enable effective crowd control during one of the most expected sporting events of the year.
