Web desk: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dismissed recent rumours regarding the names of the two new teams for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season.
Recent media reports suggested that Faisalabad and Gilgit were likely to be confirmed as the cities for the two new franchises in PSL 11.
However, the PCB has clarified that these reports are inaccurate and that no final decisions have been made regarding the team names.
According to the PCB, the cities for the two new PSL teams have not yet been finalised.
Six cities have been shortlisted for the bidding process, and the successful bidders will have the authority to select the city name for their franchise from this official list.
The PCB further explained that, as per the established procedure, successful bidders will be entitled to choose any city from the ones officially included in the bidding documents for naming their team.
The PCB had initially shortlisted six cities for the new teams: Faisalabad, Gilgit, Sialkot, Hyderabad, Rawalpindi, and Muzaffarabad.
The board has invited proposals for the establishment of new teams from across the world, with the deadline for submission of technical proposals set for December 15.
The PCB strongly refutes media reports claiming that two city names for the new #HBLPSL franchises have been finalised.

Names of New PSL Teams
Previously, many reports suggested that new Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams were finalised. The names emerging were Gilgit and Faisalabad.
According to the reports, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad and Hyderabad had been eliminated from the race for two new franchises.
However, PSL refutes the reports, stating, “The PCB strongly refutes media reports claiming that two city names for the new #HBLPSL franchises have been finalised.”
It had been announced earlier that new franchises would be added in the new PSL season.
The Pakistan Super League, which started in 2016 with five teams, expanded to six franchises in 2018 with the addition of the Multan Sultans.
The introduction of two more teams would represent the league’s first major expansion in seven years, bringing the total number of franchises to eight.
