Attack on Bannu Peace Committee Office Claims Seven Lives

BANNU: At least seven people lost their lives in an attack on the office of Peace Committee’s commander Qari Jaleel in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to police officials, unidentified terrorists have killed seven peace committee members in a fierce clash.

Police spokesman said terrorists launched a gun attack on peace committee’s office in Hoveed area, killing seven peace committee members during a clash. The identity of victims could not be ascertained immediately.

Moreover, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have rushed to the spot of the incident and a search operation is underway.

Suicide Bomb Blast in Bannu

Earlier, a suicide bomb blast was reported in the jurisdiction of Basia Khel police station at Ghora Pull Sawarni area in Bannu.

The suicide bomber was riding on a bicycle when he blew himself up.

Luckily, no loss of life or property was reported in the incident

The blast was so powerful that it’s unclear what the consequences might have been if more people had been nearby. Reports indicate that the suicide bomber’s intended target was the Basia Khail Police Station, but the explosives detonated prematurely.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and surrounding areas have seen a rise in terrorist incidents in recent days, and this attack is being viewed as part of that pattern.

Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or individuals to prevent further attacks.

CTD Bannu operation

In a separate development, CTD Bannu and Laki Marwat police carried out a joint operation in Sarai Naurang, resulting in the killing of two most-wanted terrorists.

According to details, CTD Bannu acted on a tip-off and, with Laki Marwat police, confronted the terrorists, who were planning an attack on Nali Chak Road. In the exchange of fire, terrorists Mohammad Suhail alias Ahmed and Azmatullah alias Hafiz were killed.

CTD said Azmatullah was involved in the killings of DSP Gul Muhammad, Constable Naseem Gul, and Lieutenant Arifullah, while Mohammad Suhail was behind the murders of Constable Mansoor Khan and LHC officer Hashim Khan.

Weapons and items recovered from the terrorists included a Kalashnikov, a 9mm pistol, mobile phones, and two cards of a banned organisation. Azmatullah was also linked to attacks on Abbasah Khatak police post and a private bank van.

The IG of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa praised CTD Bannu and Laki Marwat police for their efforts in the operation.
