Web desk: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced a new set of winter timings for all public-sector schools and colleges in the capital. The schedule will take effect from December 1, 2025, and continue until January 31, 2026.
Islamabad School Timings
Under the revised plan, all institutions operating under the FDE, including Islamabad Model Schools and Colleges in both rural and urban areas, will adjust their daily routines to account for the colder weather.
For single-shift schools, regular classes will be held from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm between Monday and Thursday.
On Fridays, schools will close early at 12:30 pm. Montessori and Prep sections will follow shorter hours throughout the week, ending at 12:30 pm daily.
Early Childhood Education (ECE) classes have also been reorganised:
- ECE-I will run from 8:30 am to 11:30 am
- ECE-II will run from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm
Institutions running double shifts will observe separate timings. The morning shift will operate from 8:15 am to 1:15 pm on weekdays and until 12:15 pm on Fridays.
The evening shift will begin at 1:15 pm, ending at 6:00 pm on regular days and at 6:00 pm after a 2:30 pm start on Fridays.
Postgraduate colleges have been allowed flexibility and may continue classes until 2:00 pm or 4:00 pm, depending on academic needs.
The FDE has instructed Area Education Officers to ensure that all campuses strictly follow the revised schedule.
Officials say the changes are intended to ease the routine for students and teachers as temperatures continue to drop in Islamabad.
