Complete unofficial and provisional results have been announced for 19 of the 20 constituencies in the second phase of the 2026 Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) general elections. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) won 14 seats, while the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) secured five seats.
Key Results
- LA-25 (Neelum): PML-N’s Shah Ghulam Qadir won with 18,925 votes, defeating PPP’s Mian Abdul Waheed, who received 13,596 votes.
- LA-26: PPP candidate Mian Abdul Waheed emerged victorious.
- LA-29 (Muzaffarabad): PPP’s Mukhtar Abbasi won with 19,792 votes, while PML-N’s Barrister Iftikhar Gilani secured 16,413 votes.
- LA-30 (Muzaffarabad): PML-N’s Dr. Mustafa Bashir Abbasi won with 18,082 votes, defeating PPP’s Mubashir Munir Awan, who received 11,464 votes.
- LA-31 (Muzaffarabad): PML-N’s Raja Saqib Majeed secured victory with 17,947 votes, while PPP’s Latif Akbar received 12,143 votes.
- LA-32 (Muzaffarabad): PML-N’s Farooq Haider won with 20,504 votes, ahead of PPP’s Ashfaq Zafar, who polled 17,945 votes.
- LA-33 (Muzaffarabad): PPP’s Diwan Chughtai won with 19,521 votes, while PML-N’s Chaudhry Rashid received 15,591 votes.
- LA-34: PML-N’s Nasir Hussain Dar won with 5,682 votes. Independent candidate Riaz Ahmed came second with 2,124 votes, while PPP’s Abdul Qadir Chauhan secured 1,177 votes.
- LA-35: PML-N’s Chaudhry Ismail won with 22,659 votes.
- LA-36: PML-N’s Muhammad Ahsan Raza secured victory with 27,218 votes, while PPP’s Ahsan Ismail Advocate received 12,980 votes.
- LA-37: PML-N’s Maryam Javed won with 28,664 votes, defeating Usman Aleem of the Jammu Kashmir United Movement, who received 22,040 votes.
- LA-38: PML-N’s Zeeshan Younis won with 13,608 votes, while Akbar Ibrahim of the PML-Q secured 8,749 votes.
- LA-39: PML-N’s Raja Muhammad Sadiq won with 10,893 votes.
- LA-40: PPP’s Aamir Ghaffar Lone won with 2,914 votes, while PML-N’s Naeem Khan received 102 votes. The constituency comprises refugee voters from Sindh and Balochistan.
- LA-41: PML-N’s Muhammad Aamir Shah won with 1,804 votes, while independent candidate Saba Diwan received 1,523 votes.
- LA-42: According to the Chief Election Commissioner of AJK, PML-N’s Syed Shaukat Ali Shah was declared the winner.
- LA-43: PML-N’s Muhammad Yasin won with 1,276 votes.
- LA-44: PML-N’s Muhammad Ahmad Raza Qadri won with 1,700 votes, while Mehar Nisa of the Muslim Conference received 740 votes.
- LA-45: According to provisional unofficial results, PPP’s Abdul Majeed Khan won with 3,708 votes.
Polling for the AJK Legislative Assembly was held yesterday in eight constituencies of Muzaffarabad and 12 constituencies reserved for Kashmiri refugees residing in Pakistan.
Elections were originally scheduled in nine constituencies of the Muzaffarabad Division. However, the Election Commission postponed polling in LA-1 Muzaffarabad due to unavoidable circumstances. Polling at some stations in LA-2 Lachhrat was also postponed.
Voting in these two constituencies, as well as in LA-27 and LA-28 Muzaffarabad, which were postponed due to bad weather, will now be held on August 4.
PM Shehbaz Sharif congratulates winners of Kashmir elections
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on its success in the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections.
The prime minister also extended his congratulations to PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and the party’s successful candidates for securing a lead in the second phase of the elections.
“I wholeheartedly congratulate all the successful PML-N candidates,” Shehbaz Sharif said, adding that the party’s continued success is the result of the hard work of Nawaz Sharif and the entire PML-N team.
He said the party conducted a highly successful election campaign in Azad Kashmir under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, adding that the election results reflect the people of Azad Kashmir’s confidence in the policies of the PML-N.
The prime minister said the development and prosperity of Kashmir, along with the welfare of its people, remain among the government’s top priorities. He also noted that political parties actively participated in the second phase of the AJK elections.
PPP tried to sabotage election process, says Rana Sanaullah
Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah said the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections were conducted in a free and fair manner, alleging that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) resorted to “dirty tricks” in an attempt to sabotage the electoral process.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Rana Sanaullah claimed that the PPP launched allegations of election rigging in Mirpur as soon as it realised it was losing the contest. He said the party had prepared its rigging narrative even before polling began and adopted “dirty tricks” to disrupt the elections.
Rana Sanaullah further claimed that the PPP tried to disturb polling in LA-31 and, two days before the election.
The PML-N leader maintained that the AJK elections were free and transparent, adding that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had secured a simple majority by winning 23 out of 45 seats.
He said the party would form the government in Azad Kashmir based on the public mandate and expressed confidence that PML-N would win more seats in the third phase of the elections. He added that Nawaz Sharif’s promises to the people of Kashmir would be fulfilled.
