The Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has summoned a meeting of the federal cabinet today to review the country’s current economic and security situation, along with other important national matters.
According to the media reports, the cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, will discuss the challenges facing Pakistan’s economy, the overall security situation and other key issues. Relevant officials will also brief cabinet members on various matters.
The prime minister is also expected to brief the cabinet on the joint defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
The agreement, signed in Makkah on August 07, 2026, is being described as an important development in defence cooperation among the three countries. One of its key provisions states that an external attack on any one of the three countries would be considered an attack on all three.
The cabinet will also review the country’s economic situation, including government measures to strengthen the economy, current financial challenges and other important economic matters.
The security situation will also be discussed, with officials expected to brief the cabinet on security challenges and matters related to national security.
