Muhammad Hussain, the man involved in a shooting incident at a security forces vehicle in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, has reportedly close links with the key Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
A suspect named Muhammad Hussain was killed after opening fire at a security forces’ vehicle on Mall Road in Rawalpindi.
According to security sources, a security forces’ vehicle was travelling on its routine duty when a passerby opened fire at it with a 9mm pistol.
Personnel deployed on the vehicle responded in self-defence in accordance with the law and standard operating procedures (SOPs), resulting in the suspect’s death.
As per the initial information compiled in connection with a shooting case involving Muhammad Hussain indicates that he had been politically active and had participated in a number of PTI rallies, public gatherings and protests.
Hussain, born in 1994, belongs to a family comprising four brothers and two sisters.
Muhammad Hussain’s social media activity showed his participation in multiple PTI-related political events, according to sources.
He had been in telephone contact with several PTI figures and office-bearers. According to sources, he had one recorded call with KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in January 2024, five calls with PTI MNA Muhammad Iqbal Khan, with the most recent listed in May 2025, and 10 calls with PTI MPA Abdul Ghani, the latest reportedly taking place in February 2025.
According to sources, 24 calls were recorded with Musharraf Afridi, identified in the supplied information as a provincial office-bearer of the Insaf Students Federation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the latest contact listed in November 2024.
