Commander of the National Strategic Command (CNSC) General Syed Aamer Raza has been conferred with the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) by President Asif Ali Zardari at a ceremony.
Earlier, the President’s Secretariat announced that President Zardari had approved the conferment of the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) on General Syed Aamer Raza, the country’s first Commander of the National Strategic Command.
In July, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the promotion of Lieutenant General Aamer Raza, HI(M), SBt, then Chief of the General Staff of the Pakistan Army, to the rank of four-star general and his appointment as CNSC.
Under the amended Army Act, the CNSC is appointed by the prime minister on the recommendation of the Chief of Defence Forces from among serving army generals.
General Syed Aamer Raza is a graduate of the Command and Staff College (C&SC), Quetta, and the National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad. The general officer holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Nottingham, UK, as well as MSc degrees in the Art and Science of Warfare and Defence and Strategic Studies from the National Defence University, Islamabad. He has extensive experience in command, staff, and instructional assignments.
He has previously been awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-e-Basalat.
