Pakistani women have been invited to participate in the Nagoya Women’s Marathon 2027, the world’s largest women-only marathon, with international entries opening Tuesday for the race scheduled to take place in Japan on March 14, 2027.
Held in Nagoya, Aichi, the marathon is certified by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest women-only marathon and is a World Athletics Platinum Label road race.
World’s largest women-only marathon in Japan
The 2027 edition will bring together 22,000 female runners, with the race capacity increased by 2,000 participants compared with previous editions. The field will include elite athletes as well as first-time marathoners and recreational runners from around the world.
The race is open to women of a wide range of ages and abilities, with participants taking on the full 42.195-kilometre course and pursuing individual goals ranging from completing their first marathon to setting a personal best.
One of the event’s distinctive features is its finisher award. Every woman who completes the marathon will receive an exclusive Baccarat crystal tumbler, specially created for the event by the renowned French luxury brand, which has more than 260 years of history.
The design of the 2027 finisher tumbler will be revealed during the Marathon EXPO on the day before the race.
Organisers say the event is designed to provide a safe and comfortable environment for women runners, with extensive medical support, numerous toilets and spacious changing facilities.
The marathon also offers a relatively flat course and a seven-hour time limit, making it accessible to runners with different levels of experience. Both the start and finish will be at Vantelin Dome Nagoya, a covered baseball stadium that provides protection from weather conditions.
According to organisers, 96.6 per cent of participants completed the 2026 race.
The marathon weekend will also feature the Marathon EXPO, beginning Friday, with entertainment and activities including the “GO RUNWAY” fashion show and a live performance by a popular singer.
Men will also be able to participate in events held alongside the women’s marathon on race day, including the Nagoya City Marathon Half Marathon and the 8.5-kilometre Nagoya RUN.
