The Sindh government is set to launch a special Thar Desert Train Safari Thursday (today) as part of celebrations as Pakistan marks 79th Independence Day from Karachi. This offers tourists a chance to experience the province’s rich cultural and historical landscape.
The special train will depart from Karachi and travel through Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and Umerkot before arriving at Khokhrapar. Passengers will get a chance to explore the region’s historical and cultural heritage along the way. The journey will be formally inaugurated at Karachi Cantonment Railway Station by Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah.
In addition, more than 165 tourists are expected to take part in the safari, which will include stops at various historical and cultural sites across Sindh, as well as the Pakistan-India border area.
Further, a special Independence Day ceremony will also be held at Parchi Ji Veri to mark the special occasion.
Participants will be welcomed at several railway stations along the route, where they will distribute national flags among members of the public as part of the Independence Day festivities.

At Chhor (Parchi Jeveri) includes sunset viewing, a bonfire, music and dinner. Overnight accommodation will be available either onboard the train, at a campsite, or in resorts at Parchi Jever.
