Videos showing recent protests by the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) were reportedly played on a screen at the Keran Monument on the Indian side of the Line of Control on August 14.
According to the reports, the videos were shown at around 6 PM during Independence Day celebrations. The footage reportedly showed scenes from the JAAC protests in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
Banned JAAC ‘opens fire on Rangers, Police’
Members of the banned JAAC recently opened fire on Rangers and Police in Rawalakot on Monday, according to reports.
According to a report from the District Control Room Rawalakot, during a clash between protesters and LEAs (Law Enforcement Agencies) at Chinar Chowk, Constable no 429 Muhammad Zubair of District Police Rawalakot was severely injured after being shot.
Additionally, Asif of the Punjab Rangers was also injured and is unconscious. The report also adds that the clash is ongoing and further details are being obtained.
Former AJK PM Tanveer Ilyas’ guard killed
A personal security guard of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was killed after armed persons of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee allegedly opened fire on his convoy in the Tain Dhalkot area of Poonch district on Friday.
According to a statement shared by Tanveer Ilyas’ spokesperson, the convoy was travelling from Islamabad to Pachiot in Rawalakot for an election campaign when it came under attack.
The statement said that the convoy was fired upon and pelted with stones during the incident.
The security guard, identified as Muhammad Asif, was killed in the attack. Additionally, several others travelling in the convoy were injured. A number of vehicles were also damaged.
