QUETTA: Earthquake tremors jolted the the border town of Chaman and surrounding areas, with no loss of life reported so far.
As per details, the earthquake was also felt in the Loralai town and its suburbs.
According to the Seismic Monitoring Centre, the earthquake registered a magnitude of 3.5 and struck at a depth of 20 km. The epicentre was located 23 km south-west of Loralai.
The tremor sparked panic among the public, with many people reciting the Kalma and rushing outdoors. No casualties or damage to property have been reported.
Sibi Earthquake
Earthquake tremors jolted Sibi district of Balochistan and surrounding areas of district with no damage reported so far.
According to seismic centre officials, the earthquake had a magnitude of 3.1 on the Richter scale while the depth was recorded at nearly ten kilometres.
The seismic centre stated in its report that the epicentre was located approximately 60 kilometres north-east of Sibi.
However, the tremors did not last long. There are no reports of damage or casualties so far. But authorities continue to monitor the situation.
Ziarat earthquake
Earlier, an earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck Ziarat and its surrounding areas, the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported.
According to the NSMC, the epicentre of the quake was located 67 kilometres northeast of Quetta, with tremors felt across several parts of northern Balochistan.
Residents reported feeling brief but noticeable tremors, prompting some people to rush out of their homes in panic.
So far, no immediate reports of damage or casualties have been received, officials confirmed.
Authorities said monitoring teams are assessing the situation in Ziarat and nearby districts to ensure the safety of residents and infrastructure.
The PMD continues to monitor seismic activity in the region, which lies within an active earthquake zone prone to moderate tremors.
Bangladesh earthquake
Last week, a magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck Bangladesh, the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) said, with the epicentre at a depth of 10 km (6 miles).
Tremors were also felt in eastern states in neighbouring India that border Bangladesh, but there were no immediate reports of major damage in either country, authorities said.
The United States Geological Survey said the earthquake’s epicentre was in the city of Narsingdi, about 40 km (25 miles) east of Dhaka, the capital.
Residents rushed out of their homes in Dhaka as buildings shook and some makeshift structures collapsed.
