Rain swept across Islamabad and adjoining areas on Sunday (today), bringing light to heavy showers to several areas.
Intermittent rainfall significantly improved the weather, offering residents relief from the recent humidity.
The Meteorological Department forecast hot and humid weather across most parts of the country on Sunday (today). However, rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in parts of Kashmir, northeastern Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan
The weather department has advised residents in affected areas to remain cautious as thunderstorms and strong winds may occur at scattered places. The weather in Islamabad and surrounding areas is expected to remain partly cloudy, with rain likely at several places.
Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will experience hot weather, while rain is expected in Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kurram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Hangu, and Kohat. In Punjab, rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Gujrat, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad. Meanwhile, most parts of Sindh are expected to remain hot, while partly cloudy conditions are likely in the southern districts. Thunderstorms have also been forecast in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), rain is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, and Abbottabad. Light to heavy rain is also likely in Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Khyber, Mohmand, and Kurram. The PDMA has warned of possible rain-related hazards, including landslides in vulnerable mountainous areas. There is also a risk of urban flooding in low-lying areas of Mardan and Swabi.
