The Supreme Court has ordered Imran Khan’s immediate transfer to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment.

The Supreme Court has ordered the immediate transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to Shifa Hospital for medical treatment.

According to the court’s directions, Imran Khan should be shifted to the hospital today. The court also ordered that doctors Faisal Sultan and Uzma Khan will accompany him during the transfer and remain involved in his medical care.

Imran Khan will also stay in hospital until the next hearing of the court. The court has also emphasised that PTI does not use this as a political tool. Justice Afghan urged PTI to solve the matter internally. He also told them not to make the matter of Imran Khan’s health into a political issue.

The Supreme Court further directed that the expenses related to Imran Khan’s treatment and hospitalisation at Shifa International Hospital will be borne privately.

The order comes as the court directed authorities to ensure that the PTI founder receives the required medical treatment at the hospital without delay.

The Supreme Court also ordered that Imran Khan will be able to meet his family once a week.

According to government sources, Imran Khan remains entitled to all medically necessary treatment, with the state responsible for ensuring appropriate specialist care.

However, hospital selection, admission duration, security and custody arrangements must follow medical advice, prison rules and objective criteria applicable to all prisoners.

The government believes a personality-specific arrangement at Shifa International Hospital could raise concerns about equal treatment under Article 25 of the Constitution.

Doctors, rather than political preferences, should determine the need and duration of hospitalisation.

Government sources said the certified order will be examined on legal, medical, administrative and security grounds, with the government considering appropriate review or appeal.
