A three-member bench led by Justice Shahid Waheed heard petitions about meetings with Imran Khan and his treatment.
Will Imran Khan be moved to Shifa Hospital?
The Supreme Court ordered that a medical board be formed. It said Imran Khan should be moved to the hospital under strict security. The law and order situation outside the hospital should also not be affected.
In its interim order on the request to move Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital, the court said the hospital should form a board of doctors. Imran Khan’s sister Dr Uzma and his personal doctor will also be present.
How often can Imran Khan meet family?
The court ordered that Imran Khan be allowed to meet his family once a week. It also stopped PTI from using his treatment for political purposes and said he would remain in the hospital until the next hearing.
The Supreme Court said his family would pay the expenses of treatment at Shifa Hospital. It directed authorities to take steps to move Imran Khan within a few days.
The court said his medical report would not be used for political purposes. It added that the facilities being provided to him could be withdrawn if the order is violated.
The court also asked for records of Imran Khan’s meetings with his sisters and his calls with his children. Adiala Jail officials were directed to appear at the next hearing.
Who will bear Imran Khan’s treatment expenses?
According to the order, the PTI founder or his family will bear the necessary expenses of treatment and facilities provided at Shifa International Hospital.
The court has also directed the government to make adequate security arrangements during his transfer to the hospital and throughout the treatment period.
Court asks for complete medical record
During the hearing, Justice Shahid Waheed asked why there was a problem in providing Imran Khan’s medical record. He said the material submitted to the court was only a summary of the medical report.
Justice Shahid Waheed told the Islamabad Advocate General to submit the complete record before the next hearing.
He said that once the record is presented in court, it will no longer remain secret. He also asked about meetings with Imran Khan’s sisters.
The Islamabad Advocate General said that meetings would not be allowed if anyone violated the law.
