Security forces foil terrorist attack on FC headquarters Nokundi

QUETTA: Security forces foiled a coordinated attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Nokundi, killing three terrorists late on Sunday night.

As per details, the FC South spokesperson stated, “a suicide bomber detonated himself at the main gate of the headquarters, and after the blast, at least half a dozen armed terrorists attempted to force their way into the camp.”

However, in a coordinated response from the FC’s Quick Response Force three attackers who managed to enter the fort were shot dead on the spot.

The locals in the area reported that intense gunfire and several loud blasts were heard. Authorities confirmed that security forces had regained full control of the situation and launched a clearance operation inside the fort.

Earlier, FC headquarters in Peshawar’s Saddar area along Kohat Road came under attack, leaving three personnel martyred and 10 others, including three FC personnel, injured.

According to security sources, all three terrorists behind the attack were shot dead. Heavy ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the terrorists.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar Mian Saeed said that three suicide bombers tried to enter the FC headquarters. “One attacker detonated himself at the main gate of the FC Headquarters, while two others managed to enter the premises,” he said.

The CCPO confirmed that the suicide blast has left three FC personnel martyred, and three others sustained injuries.

He further said that FC personnel immediately killed two terrorists inside the compound. He confirmed that all three suicide bombers were killed during the exchange of fire with the security personnel.

The CCPO stated that the intensity of the explosions shattered the windows of nearby buildings. The Saddar area has been closed for traffic, and traffic was being diverted to other areas, he added.

According to security sources, the attack occurred at 8 am. They revealed that the khawarij first carried out a suicide attack on the gate of the FC headquarters. After the suicide blast, the khawarij tried to enter the building but were killed, security sources added. They added that three FC men were killed in the incident, while two others were injured.
