Departmental cricket teams to pay higher annual fees after PCB hike

Sweeping reforms are being brought to the departmental cricket system. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the hike in the annual fee of teams and mandatory minimum salaries and contracts for players.

The updated policy will see annual participation fees of Rs15 million from Grade One departmental teams.

In grade two, the gold category teams will have to pay Rs4.2 million per year, while the silver category will cost Rs4 million per year.

The dramatic rise has concerned several departments, which say they already have high administrative and operational expenses.

The annual fee for Grade One teams had been raised from Rs3 million to Rs5 million, which is now triple, further burdening the teams.

The PCB has also added minimum salaries for players along with the fee increase. Now the grade one cricketers will get at least Rs125,000 per month,1.5 million annually.

A minimum of Rs75,000 per month will be paid to the players in Grade Two (Gold) teams, and at least Rs50,000 per month will be paid to the players in Grade Two (Silver) teams.

Departments have also been told to enter their players into contracts at least for one year to help provide job security and transparency in the payments of players.

Match-related payments have also been updated by the Board. Players in Grade One will be given a Rs10,000 match fee and the reserve players will be paid Rs5,000 per match.

Rs5,000 per day as a daily allowance has also been approved.

Players in Grade Two will get a match fee of Rs5,000 and an allowance of Rs4,000 per day.

This new financial structure will be used in the President’s Trophy Grade One First-Class tournament, the President’s Cup One-Day tournament and President’s Trophy Grade Two Gold and Silver tournaments.
