Passport offices in eight major cities across Pakistan will now work in two shifts to provide better services to citizens.
These cities include Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, and Quetta.
What are the new passport office timings in Pakistan?
According to a notification, the offices will remain open from 8 AM to midnight. They will be open from Monday to Friday.
The first shift will run from 8 AM to 4 PM, and the second shift will operate from 4 PM to 12 AM.

When will the double shift system start?
The new double-shift system came into effect on August 20, 2026.
The purpose of the initiative is to provide citizens with more time to access passport-related services and thus make the process easier for them.
FIA arrests 4 in passport fraud case at Lahore office
Separately, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested four people during a raid at the Harbanspura Passport Office in Lahore. These people include a passport office superintendent as well.
According to the FIA, the Anti-Corruption Circle arrested Passport Office Superintendent Abdul Ghaffar, former contract employee Ansar, security guard Zubair Ashfaq and an agent, Mubashir Mahmood.
Why was the arrest made?
The suspects were allegedly involved in taking money from citizens by promising to arrange passports through illegal means.
FIA officials said the action was taken against people involved in illegal activities both inside and outside the passport office.
A case has been registered against the arrested suspects, and further investigation is also underway.
The FIA said that other people involved in passport fraud would also be brought to justice.
The development comes days after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi conducted a surprise visit to the Garden Town Passport Office in Lahore.
He ordered the removal and suspension of officials for alleged links with an agent network, including a deputy director.
Cashless passport fee system upgraded
Director General of Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa has directed officials to make the cashless passport fee system easier and more user-friendly for the public.
Randhawa visited the Passport Headquarters and reviewed the process of paying passport fees. He issued instructions to make the payment system simpler and more transparent for citizens.
