A 58-year-old American woman, Rosanna Marina, who fell in love with a 34-year-old Pakistani man, Adil Shehzad, has arrived in Pakistan, where she embraced Islam and married him.
According to Adil Shehzad, he became friends with Rosanna Marina through social media three years ago. Their friendship gradually turned into love. He said he added her on Facebook, and after developing a friendship, their relationship eventually blossomed into love, leading him to marry her.
Appearing before a court, Rosanna Marina said that she had come to Pakistan of her own free will and married Adil Shehzad willingly.
News of the marriage between the Pakistani man and the American woman has gone viral on social media, prompting a wide range of reactions and comments from users.
Earlier, the wedding of 60-year-old Hakeem Babar to a young woman in the city of Rawalpindi created a viral trend after videos of the ceremony were shared across social media platforms.
Clips from the event uploaded to the social media platform portray the couple exchanging smiles, posing for photographs and taking part in traditional wedding rituals.
Family members were seen celebrating alongside them. The videos quickly went viral, prompting thousands of comments and reactions.
Couple say marriage was by mutual choice
In interviews shared online, Hakim Babar said the couple had first developed feelings for each other and later formalised the relationship through marriage. He added that his wife had previously been divorced.
He said both families were aware of the match and supported their decision. “Age is just a number,” he said in one clip, adding that people should feel young at heart.
The bride has not spoken extensively in public, but in short clips circulating online, the couple asked people to offer prayers and good wishes rather than criticism.
