Web desk: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police Department has issued urgent directives for the immediate implementation of a Peshawar High Court (PHC) judgment that prohibits the use of all official resources, including vehicles, machinery, and personnel, for any political activity, including protests and rallies.
The court has barred the KP government from using state resources for political purposes and ordered the police to enforce the decision immediately.
The move is aimed at strictly enforcing the principle of administrative neutrality within the province’s government machinery.
The court also ordered all provincial departments and police officials to enforce the decision immediately.
In its written order, the court said that using state resources for political activity is “against the law, the Constitution, and public trust.” It added that such actions amount to “misuse of authority” and also damage “judicial and administrative neutrality.”
The court made it clear that no government car, equipment, or manpower can be used for any protest, long march, or political event.
Following the ruling, the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police issued written instructions to all regional police officers, the CCPO Peshawar, DPOs, and SPs.
They were told to ensure “immediate and strict compliance” with the court’s orders. A copy of the judgment was attached to the notification.
The DIG Security also released a separate directive. It warned all police officials that no officer or constable is allowed to take part in any political activity other than their official duties.
It directed senior officers to monitor their subordinates and make sure no one participates in political events or neglects duty.
KP Police has instructed the entire force that no police official shall join any political protest, rally, or long march as part of the force.
The department said full and immediate compliance with the court order is mandatory.
