Karachi bans heavy vehicles for two days during Eid Milad-un-Nabi

Karachi Traffic Police has announced a ban on the entry of heavy vehicles for two days into the city during Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations.

The restriction will remain in place on August 25 (today) and 26 (tomorrow), covering 11 and 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal.

The decision aims to improve public safety and prevent traffic problems on important routes, during the religious gathering days.

Other heavy vehicles

Traffic Police has directed transport associations and owners of heavy vehicles to follow the restriction during the announced period.

A large number of people are expected to participate in Eid Milad-un-Nabi activities. Therefore, authorities are taking measures to keep procession routes clear and reduce traffic.

Traffic Police said the measures are also intended to help religious processions move safely through the city.

Motorists should also remain aware of possible traffic diversions and road restrictions during the celebrations. People travelling through areas near major processions may experience delays.

Residents are advised to plan their journeys in advance and follow instructions issued by traffic officials.

Normal heavy vehicle operations are expected to resume after the restriction days end, subject to any further instructions from Karachi Traffic Police.

On the other hand, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab inaugurated the Salam Karachi Festival, with a series of cultural, entertainment, sports and musical events scheduled across the city from August 25 (today) to September 7.

According to the festival schedule, a grand bazaar, cultural dance show and women’s stalls will be organised at Frere Hall on August 25. A bike rally from the airport to Metropole will follow on August 26.

A family festival, talent hunt and musical night will be held at Safari Park on August 27, with free entry for visitors. On August 28, a cycling rally from Sea View to Do Darya will be held along with other activities.
