Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed authorities to install proper fire safety systems in all government hospitals across the province.
Following her orders, Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir asked government hospitals to submit detailed reports on their existing fire safety measures.
Nasir said the administration would ensure the installation of fire safety systems in all government hospitals. He added that authorities had also started work on installing fire hydrants at hospitals.
On his instructions, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Rehman, along with Rescue officials, visited several government hospitals to inspect their fire safety arrangements.
During the inspections, officials checked fire alarms, hydrants and emergency exits to ensure they were available and working properly.
Nasir said protecting patients and hospital staff remained the administration’s top priority. He warned that officials would not tolerate any negligence in fire safety.
He also directed the relevant departments to immediately fix any shortcomings and complete all required safety measures.

Earlier, the federal health minister, Mustafa Kamal, said that the government will take strict action against those responsible for the PIMS incident.
Mustafa Kamal said while speaking to journalists that “I have presented myself first before the public.”
He accepted during his press conference that the PIMS hospital is not perfect. He added that there are several problems and reassured journalists that the government will work to solve issues.
“I have presented myself before Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for accountability. He is my boss and will decide my fate,” Mustafa Kamal added.
