Following the death of fourteen newborns after a fire at PIMS Hospital, call for resignation of Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has grown by political parties and social media users.
The Pakistan Peoples Party has demanded the resignation of Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal following the tragic incident at the PIMS nursery.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari called for those responsible for the PIMS tragedy to be identified and held strictly accountable.
Sherry Rehman asked the health minister why the entrance gate was closed and why there was no fire safety system. She said, “You cannot even run two hospitals. If I were the federal health minister, I would have resigned by now.”

Nayyar Bukhari said the federal health ministry only runs hospitals in Islamabad. He questioned what the situation would be if the ministry controlled hospitals across the country.
Sindh government spokesperson Saadia Javed also held the federal health minister responsible for the PIMS tragedy and demanded his resignation.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf demanded the federal health minister’s resignation and the immediate arrest of those responsible. The party said forming an inquiry committee and issuing routine statements was not enough.
MQM-Pakistan senior leader Farooq Sattar described the tragedy as both “saddening and shameful” and called for those responsible to resign.
Similarly, several social media users have also demanded the health minister to hand over his resignation over the tragic incident. They said holding a public post demands responsibility and anyone who is not capable of handling their responsibilities should resign immediately.
