The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has said it is providing uninterrupted electricity to more than 4.2 million consumers across its six operational circles, subject to the availability of power from the National Grid.
According to IESCO, no load management is being carried out anywhere in its service area during the daytime. The company said uninterrupted power is being supplied according to demand whenever the required power quota is available from the National Grid. I stated that load management is initiated in the evening when electricity demand increases. However, no feeder is subjected to load management for more than two to two-and-a-half hours within 24 hours, it added.
The power utility said load management is discontinued as soon as the required electricity quota is received from the National Grid. IESCO attributed the increased pressure on the system to higher electricity consumption and the use of heavy electrical loads. It said the additional load had also resulted in an increase in feeder faults and transformer-related complaints.
The company clarified that temporary power outages caused by feeder faults or transformer complaints should not be considered load management. IESCO said its operation staff had been fully mobilised to resolve consumer complaints as quickly as possible. The power utility also urged consumers to avoid unnecessary electricity consumption, particularly during peak hours, to help reduce pressure on the system. Consumers can register electricity-related complaints through IESCO’s 24-hour helpline at 118.
