The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Karachi has raided an alleged scam call centre in Gulistan-e-Johar, near Safoora Chowrangi, and arrested several suspects reportedly involved in a fraudulent operation targeting foreign nationals.
According to the NCCIA, the raid was carried out in connection with FIR No 74/26. The agency said the call-centre partners and other agents allegedly involved in the operation were taken into custody, while some suspects are reportedly absconding. The suspects identified by the agency include Ahsan Raza, Muhammad Laiq, Saif Aijaz, Muhammad Fazil, Fredick John, Cristopher Kaiser, Muhammad Danish and Muhammad Shahzaib. During the operation, two partners of the call centre, including Muhammad Laiq, along with Muhammad Fazil and other agents allegedly involved in the operation, were arrested.
Investigators allege that the suspects impersonated officials of foreign banks and contacted potential victims to obtain sensitive personal and financial information. The information allegedly sought included debit and credit card details, which the agency suspects were intended for fraudulent activities. During the raid, NCCIA officials reportedly recovered laptops and mobile phones allegedly used in the suspected operation.
The case has been registered under Sections 3, 4, 13, 14, 16 and 26 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2025, read with Sections 109 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The NCCIA, operating under the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control, said that further investigation into the alleged scam operation is underway.
