The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sealed eight buildings in Islamabad for failing to meet mandatory fire and life safety requirements.
CDA’s Fire and Emergency Services Directorate officials had identified safety problems at the buildings and provided time to address them.
However, the required safety measures were not completed within the given period. CDA sealed the properties over non-compliance.
The action came days after a fire incident at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad. According to the report, the incident claimed the lives of 14 infants.

- Trade Development Authority of Pakistan Building

- NIC Building
- Crown Plaza
- Khudadad Heights Plaza
- Envoy Continental Hotel
The CDA said these properties had failed to resolve fire and life safety issues highlighted during earlier inspections.
The authority has also taken action against three major healthcare facilities in the federal capital.
Capital Hospital, Polyclinic and the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences were each fined Rs500,000 for violations of fire safety regulations.
CDA orders strict actions against safety violations
CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf has directed the relevant departments to take strict action against fire and life safety violations.
He instructed officials to follow a strict policy and ensure that buildings across Islamabad comply with compulsory safety requirements.
Owners and management of affected buildings will need to address the identified violations and meet the required safety standards in line with the CDA’s regulations.
