A fire erupted in the gynaecology ward of Lahore General Hospital, forcing the evacuation of around 70 people, including pregnant women, from the affected building.
The blaze was brought under control shortly after it broke out, but thick smoke spread through the gynaecology ward, causing panic among patients, attendants and hospital staff.
According to sources, the fire was caused by a short circuit in electrical wiring installed in the ceiling of the hospital building.

However, a security guard reportedly fell ill during the incident after being affected by the situation. He was shifted to the emergency department of Lahore General Hospital for treatment.
According to the hospital administration, the guard is now out of danger and receiving medical care.
