Journalist Muhammad Aalijah Khan was filming the car when the incident happened. He later spoke to Pakistan Connect about the viral video and explained how the crash took place.

What happened behind viral D-Chowk driverless car crash?

Aalijah said there was some confusion when they started the car. He was sitting in the passenger seat while Ehsan Zafar was operating the car from a distance of about 100 metres.

He said that he was explaining how the car was being operated. The car was moving left and right and was also giving a horn.

According to Aalijah, the car then faced an internet connectivity issue, or there was a technical problem while Ehsan Zafar was trying to give the car a command to turn.

However, the car did not follow the command. It then hit the police van. Aalijah said that the car was moving at a slow speed, but the collision could not be avoided.

How did the police react after the viral crash?

Aalijah said the police officers were very angry after the collision. He said the situation was unusual because there was no driver inside the car.

Additionally, the officers said the car was being driven without a driver in a sensitive area.

Aalijah said he explained the situation to the officers. After he told them how the car was being operated and what had caused the incident, they understood what had happened.

Viral driverless car crash at Islamabad D-Chowk

Journalist Muhammad Aalijah uploaded the video on Sunday. It showed him sitting in the front passenger seat of the car at Islamabad’s D-Chowk.

The car appeared to be controlled remotely as Aalijah explained its features while it moved forward.

Moments later, the steering went out of control, and the car hit a police van parked nearby. Aalijah tried to stop the car by pulling the handbrake but was unable to prevent the car crash.
