Crime remains a major concern in Karachi as four people were killed in separate incidents within just about two hours, as people question the law and order situation in the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) led Sindh government.
According to Numbeo’s 2026 Crime Index, Karachi has a crime index of 57.71 and a safety index of 42.29.
Numbeo also separately rates the perceived overall level of crime in the city as high.
Four killed in separate incidents
A man was stabbed to death in Mominabad in Orangi Town. In another incident, a person was shot dead in Sector 11-F of New Karachi.
A young man was also shot in Block 13 of Federal B Area and died from his injuries.
The fourth incident took place in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 10. A 61-year-old man was shot dead there.
Police teams reached the areas after the incidents. They secured the crime scenes and registered cases. Investigations are underway to find out what led to the killings.
Police are collecting evidence and speaking to witnesses. Further details are expected as the investigations continue.
This is not the only case that has alarmed the entire nation. In Karachi, many other cases have emerged that left people questioning the PPP-led Sindh government’s handling of the city’s law and order situation.
Mir Raza Ali murder case
The murder case of 25-year-old businessman Mir Raza Ali is also among the major crime cases being investigated in Karachi.
Mir Raza was an IBA graduate and the owner of dessert brand Wafflix. He went missing on July 28, 2026. His body was found the next day in bushes in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Police had initially considered suicide as a possible cause of death. However, questions were later raised about the case and a second post-mortem was carried out.
The final report of the second post-mortem was issued on Monday. It said the findings were not consistent with suicide.
The report said the death was caused by a gunshot wound to the back. It stated that the bullet entered through the back and exited through the front of the chest.
The report concluded that the findings were inconsistent with suicide as the manner of death.
Violent flat dispute in DHA
In another case, a dispute between residents of an apartment building in DHA Phase VI became a topic of discussion online after CCTV footage surfaced.
The footage showed an alleged fight involving a dumbbell. Police officers were also present during the incident. A security camera was also damaged.
The incident took place on August 21 at an apartment building on Khayaban-e-Bukhari.
Residents said that the dispute had been going on for some time. It was due to issues including maintenance charges, water supply and other utilities.
According to residents, tensions increased between families living on different floors. One side allegedly accused another resident of cutting off their water supply and damaging their water tank.
The resident was also accused of threatening to disconnect electricity despite payments being made in advance. The dispute later turned into a violent confrontation.
Student robbed at gunpoint
Street crime also remains a concern in the city. In a separate incident in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, armed men riding a motorcycle allegedly robbed a young man in Block 13-D.
The victim was identified as Muhammad Siddique. He is a Hafiz-e-Quran and a student at Karachi University.
CCTV footage showed the suspects arriving on a motorcycle. They allegedly stopped Siddique outside his home and robbed him before leaving the area.
Siddique said he was about to enter his cousin’s house when the suspects approached him. He said they threatened him with a gun and took his motorcycle, an expensive watch and his wallet.
Siddique registered a case at the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station. Police have started an investigation into the incident.
