Web desk: The Lahore High Court has approved the bail petition of public speaker Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza, providing him relief in the case filed against him.
The verdict was announced after a comprehensive hearing in which the court examined arguments from both the defence and the prosecution.
Engineer Ali Mirza’s legal team had filed the petition, citing concerns over the nature of the allegations and the circumstances surrounding his arrest.
They argued that the case lacked substantial evidence. They also emphasised that Engineer Ali Mirza had fully cooperated with investigative authorities.
During the proceedings, the bench questioned the prosecution on the basis of the charges and the progress of the investigation.
Officials were asked to provide any evidence suggesting that Engineer Ali Mirza could pose a threat or fail to cooperate if granted bail.
After reviewing the arguments, the court concluded that the legal conditions for bail had been met and approved the petition.
It is expected that a detailed copy of the court’s decision will be released soon, which will determine the future legal developments.
On the other hand, Mirza’s defence team has expressed complete satisfaction with the court’s decision and said that they have complete faith in the judicial system.

Previously, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) reserved its decision on the petition seeking to suspend the opinion of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) in the Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza case.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard the case and noted that the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) had submitted an incomplete response.
The court directed the council to provide a full response and clarify its jurisdiction.
During the hearing, Justice Kayani asked whether the CII is merely an advisory body and who had requested its opinion.
The court also observed that taking certain actions could set a new precedent in the country, emphasising that Parliament is an independent institution with its own powers.
