Ramzan 2027: When will the holy month begin?

Hassan September 2, 2026 Pakistan

The residents of UAE, will be expecting Ramzan to arrive early in February 2027, as per astronomical calculations. Monday, February 8, 2027, is anticipated as the first day of Ramzan.

In Pakistan, Ramzan will begin on the same day or possibly it will be one day later.

The new moon that is expected to announce the beginning of Ramzan this next year is expected to form on Saturday, February 6, 2027 at 3:56 a.m. UTC, according to the International Astronomy Centre.

Further observations on February 6th and 7th will then be used to assess the visibility and decide if the crescent can be seen.

February 8 is the approximate date for the first fast as per the pre-calculated Hijri calendar.

As Ramzan approaches, many people also prepare for the spiritual traditions observed during its final days. Thousands gather for Aitkaaf during the last Ashra of Ramzan, making it an important part of the holy month.

This is still a prediction, though, until the crescent is sighted and the decision is made with regard to the UAE authorities; it will be only then that the start date of Ramadan will be known.

The astronomical calculations also give a preliminary guess of the date of Eid al-Fitr.

The Shawwal new moon will be seen on Monday, March 8, 2027 at 9:29 a.m. UTC. If the crescent is sighted and Ramadan is 29 days, then the celebration of Eid may be on Tuesday 9 March.

If Ramadan lasts for 30 days, then Eid al-Fitr would instead be celebrated on Wednesday, March 10.

Meanwhile, Eid al-Adha is anticipated on May 16 or 17, 2027.

The new moon of Dhul Hijjah is predicted for Thursday, May 6, 2027, at 10:59 a.m. UTC, and the beginning of the month will be on May 7/8.

These dates are of significance to residents, businesses and travellers planning events around Ramzan and Islamic Holidays.

The final dates are only confirmed after the official crescent-moon sighting.

As families also plan ahead for Ramzan, they should keep in mind that in Ramzan 2026 the government announced a Ramzan relief package which helps the needy families in Ramzan.
