The Lahore district administration has announced that registration for manufacturing kite-flying equipment for Basant 2027 will begin on September 5, 2026. The process will be carried out through the Basant Portal 2027.
Lahore Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Muhammad Ali Ijaz announced the registration date as preparations begin for next year’s three-day Basant celebrations.
NOC required for kite manufacturing
The district administration has made official permission mandatory for people who want to manufacture kite-flying equipment in Lahore.
Only manufacturers who obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) will be permitted to produce the equipment.
District administration teams will monitor manufacturing activities to ensure that approved rules and safety requirements are followed.
Other reports say the licensing system is also expected to cover kite sellers and string manufacturers as preparations move forward.
Authorities aim to start the licensing process to begin early enough to ensure sufficient supplies for the festival.
Rules set for safe kite flying
The administration has also placed restrictions on the types of equipment that can be used during Basant.
Only kites of approved sizes will be allowed. Cotton string and panna will be permitted for kite flying. The administration says these requirements are intended to reduce safety risks while allowing Lahore’s traditional kite-flying culture to continue.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz said authorities want to revive the traditional spirit of kite flying while ensuring that safety regulations are strictly followed.
Basant 2027 dates confirmed
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced last month that Basant Lahore 2027 will take place from March 12 to 14.
The chief minister announced the dates following what the provincial government described as the successful return of Basant in 2026.
She invited people from across Punjab and Pakistan to attend the three-day celebration. Overseas Pakistanis and international visitors were also invited to travel to Lahore for the event.
Basant returned to Lahore in February 2026 after a long suspension, with kite flying allowed under strict regulations.
