Flour prices have increased once again in the provincial capital, Quetta, adding to the financial difficulties faced by citizens. The price of a 20-kilogram bag of flour has increased by Rs 70, from Rs 2,850 to Rs 2,920, forcing consumers to spend more on this essential food item.
According to market sources, flour prices in Quetta have continued to rise in recent days. The increase is attributed to rising wheat prices and difficulties in the availability of wheat in the market. Flour mill owners say they are facing difficulties in procuring wheat, while the price of the available wheat has also increased. As a result, the cost of flour production has risen, directly affecting consumers.
The mill owners have warned that if the supply of wheat does not improve and its price does not decline, flour prices could increase further in the coming days. Meanwhile, citizens have expressed concern over the continuous rise in flour prices. They say that amid the ongoing inflation, flour is already becoming increasingly unaffordable for the common man, while repeated price hikes are placing additional pressure on household budgets.
Citizens have called on the government and relevant authorities to take immediate notice of the rising prices of flour and wheat. They have urged the authorities to ensure an adequate supply of wheat in the market and take effective measures to stabilise flour prices.
