AirSial has become Pakistan’s second largest airline after adding another aircraft to its growing fleet.
The private airline, established by Sialkot’s business community, has inducted its 12th aircraft. The newly inducted Airbus A320 will be used for both domestic and international flights.
AirSial moves ahead of Airblue
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) remains the country’s largest airline by fleet size with 32 aircraft. AirSial has now moved into second place with 12 aircraft, while Airblue is reported to have 11 aircraft.
However, AirSial’s own website currently lists 11 Airbus A320-200 aircraft, each to carry 180 passengers.
AirSial is not planning to stop at 12 aircraft. Its management has decided to bring more planes into the fleet as the airline expands its route network.
An AirSial spokesperson said the airline plans to acquire additional aircraft because of the expected increase in routes. The expansion is also expected to create new employment opportunities in Pakistan’s aviation sector.
According to the spokesperson, another 18 aircraft are expected to join AirSial’s fleet. Reportedly, the airline has reached a deal involving 19 aircraft with a foreign aviation company.
AirSial was launched by the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry to improve air connectivity for Sialkot, one of Punjab’s major industrial centres. It initially focused on domestic services but has since expanded into international markets.
The airline’s continued fleet expansion shows its growing presence in Pakistan’s aviation market.
PIA to replace uniforms
On the other hand, previously Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced plans to replace the uniforms worn by its cabin crew and onboard staff for the past decade. Reportedly, the recently privatised national carrier formally announced the decision through a post on its official Instagram account, signaling a fresh change in the airline’s presentation and staff appearance.
