Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of prolonged electricity load-shedding across the country and directed authorities to ensure that power outages do not exceed two hours in any area.
The Prime Minister expressed concern over the increasing duration of load-shedding and instructed the relevant departments to take immediate measures to improve the power supply situation and provide relief to consumers.
A high-level meeting on electricity load management was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed displeasure over the increasing load-shedding in several cities and ordered that power outages be limited to a maximum of two hours in any area.
The meeting was informed that RLNG supplies had been disrupted due to tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and logistical challenges, making load management measures necessary to maintain a balance between electricity supply and demand.
The Prime Minister directed the relevant authorities to take immediate measures to address the disruptions in RLNG supplies and minimise their impact on the country’s power sector.
Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting in Islamabad to review measures for the promotion of the agricultural sector and the expansion of agricultural exports. He described agriculture as a key pillar of Pakistan’s economic growth and stability and directed the authorities to take coordinated measures to secure greater access to international markets for Pakistani agricultural products.
The Prime Minister instructed commercial officers posted at Pakistan’s overseas missions to play an active role in promoting agricultural exports. He emphasised the importance of value addition in agricultural products to increase their export potential. He also directed the launch of an effective media campaign to create awareness about the mobile application developed for crop monitoring.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed that effective coordination and cooperation between the federal and provincial governments are essential to increasing per-acre agricultural yields, modernising the agriculture sector, developing the livestock industry, and promoting agricultural exports.
During the meeting, the participants were briefed on various initiatives and presented proposals concerning the development of the agricultural sector and the expansion of agricultural exports.
