The Punjab government has issued a new directive on Wednesday regarding the monitoring of wedding ceremonies in Lahore.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) has ordered immediate measures to oversee wedding events.
How will weddings be monitored?
The Punjab government has directed that strict monitoring should be carried out during operating hours. Additionally, the “one-dish” policy in wedding halls will also be monitored.
Instructions have also been given to take action against any violations.
What will happen in case of violation?
Any violations will be formally recorded, according to the directives of the relevant departments. Additionally, legal action will be taken.
Instructions have also been issued to all Assistant Commissioners and relevant enforcement personnel to conduct independent inspections.
Punjab Marriage Functions Act, 2016
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Enforcement, Kashif Jalil, has been appointed as the focal person for Lahore district.
The field teams will submit daily reports to the ADC (Enforcement) office. Additionally, all relevant departments will provide necessary support to the field teams.
This monitoring initiative has been launched to make sure that there is compliance with the Punjab Marriage Functions Act, 2016.
How much have wedding grants increased in Punjab?
Recently, the Punjab Police Welfare Board approved a major increase in financial assistance for police employees and their families.
The decision was taken on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police, Punjab.
It included a significant increase in wedding grants for the daughters of serving and retired police employees.
Under the revised policy, the wedding grant for daughters of serving and retired employees has been increased from Rs100,000 to Rs250,000.
For daughters of police employees who died during service, the grant has been raised from Rs200,000 to Rs500,000.
The wedding grant for each daughter of a police martyr has also been increased from Rs500,000 to Rs750,000.
The board had also approved higher educational scholarships for the children of police employees.
