The Punjab Police Welfare Board has approved a major increase in financial assistance for police employees and their families.
The decision, taken on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police, Punjab, includes a significant increase in wedding grants for the daughters of serving and retired police employees.
Under the revised policy, the wedding grant for daughters of serving and retired employees has been increased from Rs100,000 to Rs250,000.
For daughters of police employees who died during service, the grant has been raised from Rs200,000 to Rs500,000.
The wedding grant for each daughter of a police martyr has also been increased from Rs500,000 to Rs750,000.
The board has also approved higher educational scholarships for the children of police employees.
The annual scholarship for students pursuing graduation and BS (Honours) has been increased to at least Rs60,000, while the scholarship for intermediate students has been set at Rs50,000.
Students studying at matriculation and Class IV levels will receive an annual scholarship of Rs20,000.
The revised welfare package also includes full fee support for children pursuing specialised degrees in fields such as engineering, medicine, MBBS and BBA, according to the approved policy.
The measures aim to provide greater financial support to police employees, their families and the children of police personnel who died while serving the province.
