Pakistan Stock Exchange intraday update

Buying was visible across several major sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration companies, oil marketing companies, power producers and refineries.

Several index-heavy stocks were also trading in positive territory. LUCK, MCB, MEBL, NBP, UBL, MARI, OGDC, PPL, POL and ARL were among the prominent stocks supporting the broader market.

Among actively traded stocks, MDTL was up 5.62 percent at Rs8.08, while SGPL gained 8.41 percent to Rs33.00. BOP rose 3.02 percent to Rs31.03, PRL added 1.39 percent to Rs83.82 and MLCF increased 2.52 percent to Rs93.62. NNAR was among the active stocks trading lower, falling 2.30 percent to Rs22.47.

DSIL was the top gainer, rising 12.05 percent to Rs9.30, followed by FPRM, which gained 10.04 percent to Rs11.95. OML, GEMMEL, SELECT, ELCM and DINT also posted gains of around 10 percent.

On the other hand, FPJM fell 10 percent to Rs22.49, while PIM declined 8.69 percent to Rs61.39. POWERPS, FASM, PECO and SASML were also among the major decliners.

The positive movement comes a day after the market suffered a sharp decline. On Wednesday, the KSE-100 fell 1,370.52 points, or 0.81 percent, to close at 168,021.80 as investors remained cautious over high international oil prices, regional tensions and concerns about the economic outlook.

Global market sentiment was firmer on Thursday, with Asian shares gaining after the US Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points. However, a stronger US dollar and expectations of another US rate increase have kept pressure on commodities, including oil.
