A decision was made on Friday to seal the Red Zone and the Extended Red Zone in Islamabad ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) long march.
Will the Red Zone be sealed?
Authorities have decided to seal Islamabad’s Red Zone and extended Red Zone ahead of the long march.
All five routes leading to the Red Zone will be completely closed. Two layers of containers and heavy police deployment will be placed at each route.
The extended Red Zone will also be sealed and will only be opened in case of an emergency.
Islamabad Capital Police holidays
Separately, the Islamabad Capital Police has banned all types of leave for its officers and officials with immediate effect until October 5, 2026.
According to a circular issued by the Inspector General of Police Islamabad on September 18, casual, earned and ex-Pakistan leave have been suspended across the force. However, the order will allow emergency leave.
The circular further directed officers and officials who are currently on casual or earned leave to report to their respective places of posting immediately.
‘No one can storm the capital’
Before this, Federal Minister for Interior of Pakistan Mohsin Naqvi said on Friday that after the decision by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), no one can storm the Federal capital.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the interior minister stated that anyone who disobeys the court orders will face contempt of court.
Mohsin Naqvi stated that many heavy losses have been suffered in the past. If fire is opened on the jawans, they will not remain silent.
The Federal Minister emphasised that there must be a distinction between political rallies and unruly mobs.
He remarked that the country has suffered heavy losses in the past due to such situations.
He warned that if fire is opened on young people, they will not remain silent. Further adding that law enforcement agencies have been instructed to stop these groups using every possible means.
