Team Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan has said that his team is psychologically geared towards winning gold medals for the country in the Asian Games.
In a press conference before the Asian Games, Farhan assured that the team was not under pressure, and all the players were in good shape.
He pointed out that Pakistan will not be concentrating only on India, but also on all other opponents.
“We have to put in some effort against all the teams and not just India,” Farhan said.
The captain also expressed that they were aiming to win all their matches and return with a Gold Medal for Pakistan.
“We want to win against all the teams”, he said.
Farhan was also satisfied with the players’ form and preparation at present, stating that the whole team is in very good shape before the tournament.
He repeated his pledge to do their best at the Asian Games and win gold for Pakistan.
Farhan said that winning a gold medal for Pakistan is their desire.
The Asian Games will be a chance for Pakistan’s cricket team to get to play against regional opponents as they aim to secure a medal.
Pakistan’s T20 team captain and opening batter Sahibzada Farhan has been proposed to remain captain for the home series against Sri Lanka as well.
According to media sources, head coach Mike Hesson is in favour of handing over the captaincy to Sahibzada Farhan in the T20 format in place of Salman Ali Agha. Media sources say that young players are likely to be given opportunities in the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka.
The 2028 T20 World Cup is also being kept in mind while forming the Pakistan team. For this purpose, plans are being made to prepare a pool of players for the future. According to media sources, Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf are unlikely to return for the series against Sri Lanka.
Three T20 matches between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played in Rawalpindi. The first match will be held on October 9, the second on October 11, while the third T20 match will take place on October 13. The final squad and captain for the series will be confirmed after the Pakistan Cricket Board makes an official announcement.
