Pakistan has rejected as “baseless” allegations by the Afghan Taliban regime regarding the situation in Nuristan, saying it has no involvement in internal clashes in the province or elsewhere in Afghanistan.
According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, claims that Pakistani security forces or intelligence agencies were involved in the clashes are totally baseless and fabricated. The ministry also rejected allegations that Pakistan was recruiting or training former Afghan officials or facilitating any terrorist group, including Daesh.
Pakistan reiterated that it has no connection with internal conflicts in Afghanistan and rejected what it described as unfounded allegations against the country.
No verifiable evidence of Pakistan’s involvement has been presented. No identifying details, documents, communication records, or forensic evidence have been provided to substantiate the allegations. Even the video allegedly circulating on social media fails to establish any link to Pakistan.
Consistent with United Nations reports, terrorist organisations remain present and active in Afghanistan. Terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil pose a threat to Pakistan and regional security.
It is surprising that the Taliban regime, which Pakistan says harbours terrorist groups, is accusing Pakistan of supporting terrorism. Instead of shifting the blame for its internal security problems onto Pakistan, the Taliban should take verifiable action against terrorist organisations operating from Afghan soil. The Taliban government must honour its pledge not to allow Afghan territory to be used for terrorism against Pakistan or any other country.
Such allegations by what Pakistan describes as a non-inclusive and unrepresentative Taliban government also appear aimed at diverting attention from internal dissent and the treatment of women, children, and minorities.
