OpenAI has introduced its new artificial intelligence agent, “Dots,” which has been developed to automatically perform various tasks based on the user’s instructions.

The company announced Dots on the occasion of its annual Developer Day conference. According to OpenAI, it is an AI agent that will remain accessible to the user at all times and will be able to follow instructions given through written feedback or voice commands.

The company says that Dots works like a cloud computer and, over time, can develop the ability to understand the user’s preferences, working style and needs by learning from the user’s feedback.

Dots can be connected to more than 4,000 apps, through which it can assist the user with various tasks. According to OpenAI, users will be able to use Dots across different platforms, including the web, mobile and desktop. Through it, users can provide specific instructions for their tasks, while the AI agent will perform tasks according to those instructions.

The company has also taken additional measures for user privacy and security in Dots. Users can set specific limits for its activities and can also involve themselves in certain decisions made automatically.

According to OpenAI, each Dots agent operates within its own cloud computer environment. Passwords used to sign in to supported websites can also be stored, however, the company says that the details of these passwords will not reach the AI model.

Through the new AI agent, OpenAI has taken a step beyond a chatbot that only answers questions towards AI systems that can also perform practical tasks on behalf of the user.
