Toyota has pulled the covers off a thoroughly updated Corolla sedan at the Guangzhou motor show this week, giving the world a look at a model that is set to reach Chinese showrooms before 2026.
The refresh brings a sharper exterior, a modern digital cockpit, and new engine options as Toyota tries to keep its best-selling sedan competitive in global markets.
The reveal has already stirred excitement among Pakistani Toyota Corolla fans, who have been asking the same question for years: when will Toyota introduce a new shape in Pakistan?
For now, industry insiders say the wait is not over. A full new generation is still months away, and there is no confirmed timeline for Pakistan. Some reports suggest Toyota may introduce changes in 2026 Toyota Corolla, but nothing is certain.
The current Corolla shape has been on sale in the country since 2014, making it one of the longest-running generations offered by Indus Motor Company.
Many local buyers believe the time for an upgrade has long passed. With prices already touching Rs7.7 million for the top variant, and higher at some dealerships that charge premiums for instant delivery, customers say the company should move to a fresh design.
Toyota Corolla 2026 price in Pakistan
Some reports suggest that the 2026 Toyota Corolla could be priced above Rs8 million in Pakistan, with the top variant possibly reaching around Rs9 million.
A look at the global model
The redesigned Corolla showcased in China features a noticeably sharper front inspired by the latest Camry and Prius lines. While the rear design remains familiar, the updated body now measures 4710 x 1780 x 1435 mm with a 2750 mm wheelbase. Buyers will also be able to opt for 17-inch alloy wheels and a sunroof.
Fully digital interior
One of the biggest changes is inside the cabin. The long-used analogue meter panel has been replaced by an 8.8-inch digital cluster, paired with a new 12.9-inch infotainment screen. Toyota is also offering the full Toyota Pilot driver assistance package even on base models, marking a clear shift toward higher safety standards.
Engine choices
The China-spec Corolla comes with two engine options:
• A 1.8-litre hybrid/petrol
• A 2.0-litre petrol
Sales in China will begin in December, with pricing expected to be announced closer to launch.
What this could mean for Pakistan
The updated Chinese model may influence Toyota’s plans for Pakistan, as both markets are closely linked in terms of parts sourcing and industry trends. With Hyundai and Changan already offering more advanced infotainment and safety features in their sedans, Indus Motor Company may come under pressure to update its long-standing model sooner than usual.
The 1.8-litre hybrid option could be especially relevant for Pakistan, where rising fuel costs have pushed demand for more efficient cars. As Toyota expands hybrid parts production in the region, assembling a Corolla Hybrid locally may become more practical and potentially more affordable.
For now, though, Pakistani buyers will have to keep waiting. With rivals improving quickly and the Corolla’s global redesign now public, the pressure on Toyota’s local arm to accelerate its plans is stronger than ever.
