Consumers get relief as OGRA cuts petrol, diesel prices

Petrol prices in Pakistan may decrease by 9 paisa per litre for the next three days, while high-speed diesel could become 57 paisa per litre more expensive.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is expected to finalise the prices of petroleum products tonight. The revised rates will take effect from midnight, according to the available information.

However, the anticipated reduction in petrol prices is marginal, while the expected increase in diesel prices could add to transportation costs.

According to the latest notification issued by the Petroleum Division on October 9, petrol prices were increased by Rs2.31 per litre to Rs398.96. High-speed diesel prices also rose by 78 paisa per litre to Rs395.72.

On October 8, petrol prices had increased by Rs1.82 per litre, while diesel had become cheaper by 91 paisa, bringing their respective prices to Rs396.65 and Rs394.94 per litre.

The final revised prices are expected to be announced after the government’s review.
