The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing income tax return once again.
As per the official notification, the last date for income tax return has been extended from October 15 to October 31, giving taxpayers an additional 16 days to submit their returns.
The deadline had previously been extended to 15 October from the original date of 30 September.
In a notification, the FBR said the latest extension applies to taxpayers who were required to file their returns by 30 September and whose deadline had already been extended to 15 October.
The tax authority said the decision was taken in response to requests from various trade bodies and tax bar associations.
This is the second time the FBR has extended the income tax return filing deadline this year.
According to the figures provided, about 6.9 million tax returns have been filed so far.
The filing season has been affected by technical problems, including slowdowns and glitches in the FBR’s IRIS online tax filing portal. Some taxpayers had reported difficulties submitting their returns through the system.
The latest extension gives eligible taxpayers more time to complete the process and submit their returns before the revised deadline of 31 October 2026.
