The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah at the CM’s House.
The cabinet directed officials to upload the report prepared by a judicial commission led by Justice Umar Sial to the Home Department’s website on the same day.
What steps will the government take?
CM Murad Ali Shah formed a special committee to make sure that the recommendations of the report are followed.
The committee includes Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, Nasir Hussain Shah, Saeed Ghani and the Advocate General of Sindh.
The CM also directed the authorities to provide a copy of the report to Mir Raza’s family without delay. The report was presented to the cabinet in seven separate envelopes.
What did Mir Raza’s father demand?
A day earlier, Mir Raza’s father demanded the formation of a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate his son’s murder.
Speaking to the media outside the court, Mir Hussain was accompanied by his lawyer, advocate Jibran Nasir. He said the police had failed to investigate the case properly.
He added that the findings of the judicial commission had confirmed the family’s concerns about the investigation.
Mir Hussain demanded that CM Murad Ali Shah and Faryal Talpur share the report with the family and make it public after the cabinet meeting.
He also called for strict action against police officers found responsible for negligence during the investigation.
He said the family had repeatedly raised concerns through the media about the police investigation and its shortcomings.
According to Mir Hussain, the judicial commission’s findings supported the family’s concerns. He again called for action against the officers responsible for the failures.
