Several areas of Karachi have become free from electricity load-shedding following K-Electric’s latest network review.
The company said regular bill payments and efforts to reduce electricity theft helped improve power supply.
According to K-Electric, several areas moved from the medium-loss category to the low-loss category. These areas will now receive electricity without scheduled load-shedding.
Karachi areas now exempt from load-shedding
The newly exempt areas include Abdullah Shah Noorani Colony, Pak Ittehad Colony, Zaman Town and Sectors 48-A to 48-E in Korangi.
Parts of Azizabad, including Blocks 2 and 8 of Federal B Area, Bhangoria Goth, Block 9 Yasinabad and Naimat Colony, have also received exemptions.
Other areas include Kyani Shaheed, Randle Road, APWA Complex Road, Jubilee Cloth Market and Biltistani Mohalla in Jacob Lines.
Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Colony, Altaf Town, Deh Dih Tapo Ibrahim Hyderi Goth and some parts of SITE and Sectors L-1 and 5-D in Surjani Town are also included.
Load-shedding reduced in other areas
Several neighbourhoods have also moved from the high-loss category to the medium-loss category.
These include Saadat Colony, Moria Khan Goth, Soldier Bazar, Tagore Street, Aminabad Society and Martin Quarters.
Parts of Orangi Town, including Khawaja Ghareeb Nawaz, Millat Colony, Madina Colony and Al-Mustafa Colony, will also experience reduced load-shedding.
K-Electric said nearly 70 per cent of its service area, covering more than 2,100 feeders, remains exempt from scheduled power cuts.
Spokesperson Imran Rana credited timely payments, community cooperation and action against electricity theft for the improvement.
Since the start of the 2026–27 financial year, K-Electric has conducted nearly 5,000 operations against illegal connections.
The company has removed more than 44,000 kilogrammes of illegal wires during these operations.
K-Electric reviews its network every three months.
Customers can check their area’s latest schedule through K-Electric’s website, KE Live app or WhatsApp service.
DISCOs electricity bills issuance
Previously, Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari ordered strict action against electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) for issuing wrong and excessive detection bills to consumers.
The minister issued the directions during a meeting with the boards of directors of DISCOs on Friday.
He warned that electricity theft must be stopped, but consumers should not face unfair charges.
